BAPMT brings to your attention the first of a series of lectures on “Pre- and Perinatal Psychology and Medicine”, preceding the upcoming basic training in “Pre- and Perinatal Psychology. Prevention and Release of Birth Trauma”. In these lectures we will have the opportunity to meet some of the pioneers and experts in the field of pre- and perinatal psychology, medicine and psychotherapy. We are honored to start these meetings with the lecture of Dr. med. Ludwig Janus, who will present the topic of the Psychological Dimension of Pregnancy and Birth.
Abstract:
In the twenties of the last century by the psychoanalysts Otto Rank and Gustav Hans Graber was discovered, that the children before, during and after birth have deep experiences on a preverbal emotional and sensorial level. The decisive insight was, that these experiences are lifelong present in the background of our mind. This insight can help us to understand our children better, but they can help us also to understand some contents on the political level. The quality of early parent-child-relations are the precondition of a peaceful society.
LUDWIG JANUS, MD
Dr. med. Ludwig Janus has been a practising psychoanalytic psychotherapist in Heidelberg since 1975. He has studied psychology and medicine in Munich, Essen and Göttingen. Psychoanalytic training in Göttingen and Heidelberg. He has also been a lecturer and psychoanalysis instructor at the Psychoanalytic Training Institute in Heidelberg.
He is the Past-President of the International Society for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Medicine (ISPPM) (www.isppm.de), and Past President of the German Society for Psychohistory and Political Psychology (www.psychohistorie.de). He is a member of various psychoanalytic and other societies.
Now, he is also Head of the Institute for Prenatal Psychology and Medicine (www.praenatalpsychologie.de).
Dr. Janus has published numerous works on prenatal and perinatal psychology and on psychohistory as well as many books and book chapters.
