Bulgarian Association for Development of Psychomotricity organizes an online seminar on the topic of “Hospitalism and possibilities for reducing its negative effects by psychomotor play”.
The seminar will address the following topics:
- What is hospitalism and what neurosciences say about it
- Development of psychomotor concepts for preventing and reducing the effects of hospitalism
- Physiological aspect or relation between emotions and development (attachment)
- Relation between emotions and body expression (sensory motor pleasure)
- The role of Psychomotricity in child development – actions that might be considered in hospital environment (practical application of Psychomotricity)
Lecturer: Michele Kocheleff-Hoffman
Michele Kocheleff-Hoffmann is the co-founder and co-director of PEISA – Psychomotor Education Institute in South Africa. She is Belgian, born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Michele completed her secondary education in Brussels, Belgium and then Physiotherapy in 1959. She specialized in pre- and perinatal child development. In 1975, she moved to Burundi, where she worked as a psychomotor specialist and physical education teacher in schools and hospitals for 20 years. During this time she also ran a private physiotherapy practice. In 1990 she started working in SOS Children’s Villages, where she taught psychomotor education. From 1996 until today, she has conducted psychomotor training in the area of Pietermaritzburg and Durban in South Africa. In 2011, sponsored by World Vision, and with the help of her colleague Mary Lou Kemp, Michele Kocheleff-Hoffmann introduced the psychomotor program in nurseries and primary schools in the Umwotti area. In 2013, she was accredited as a trainer in PPA Psychomotor Practice Aucouturier by the Internationale Aucouturier School (E.I.A).
By organizing this seminar, BAPMT hopes to bring forward and support meetings facilitating professional exchange on the development of body-oriented approaches to support child development, as well as meetings of specialists from Europe and the world with Bulgarian specialists from various public, health and social fields.
